Abu Dhabi Post Office – Customs center is located in the heart of the capital City. It is an important customs center and represents a strategic location for all kinds of postal trade.

Tasks of Abu Dhabi Post Office - Customs Center

Abu Dhabi Post Office - Customs Center performs a number of vital tasks to facilitate customs procedures in completing different transactions. Procedures in Abu Dhabi Post Office - Customs Center are divided into two types:

• Security procedures
• Customs procedures

Security Procedures

These procedures aim at inspecting all the shipments (including letters and parcels) coming to the emirate of Abu Dhabi from all countries, in order to seize and prevent the entry of the following restricted and exempted goods:

• All kind of drugs
• Sorcery and its materials
• Telephone tapping and radar detection devices
• Sexually oriented or immoral materials

Customs Procedures

Collecting customs duties on the goods received from Emirates Post. The duty value is calculated based on the invoices attached to the parcels. In the absence of invoices, parcels will be detained pending presentation of invoices or, the goods value will be assessed by the designated Assessment Committee.

• AED 10 being the issue value of the customs statement will be added to customs duties.
• AED 10 will be charged as the issue value of the exempted customs statement.
• External goods sent for repair will be examined to collect customs duties on spare parts, charges for repairs, cargo and insurance.
• Certain materials and goods that are not released until obtaining the approval of competent authorities:
• Medicines that are transferred to the office of the Ministry of Health.
• Books, films and the like that are transferred to the office of the Media Authority.
• Chemicals that are transferred to the Environmental Research Agency.
• Seeds, fertilizers, animal medicines and the like that are transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
• Wireless sets that are not allowed to enter the state by post except for the companies granted a relevant license from the authorities concerned.

Working Hours

Management

The Abu Dhabi Post Office - Customs Center management works during official working hours from 8:00 a.m. till 2.30 p.m. all weekdays except the weekend on Fridays and Saturdays and days of official holidays.

Other Sections

These work on shift basis all weekdays from 8:00 a.m. till 8.00 p.m. and on Friday from 5.00 p.m. till 8.00 p.m.

Working hours during religious and national occasions:

The 1^st day of Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha and the Federation Day are official holidays. For all days of religious and national occasions, working hours are from 9.00 a.m. till 1.00 p.m.

Clearing Offices

Abu Dhabi Post Office - Customs Center has no clearing companies. Transactions are conducted directly with corporate representatives or individual persons.
