Mina Zayed
Mina Zayed (Port Zayed or Abu Dhabi Port) is the major sea port of Abu Dhabi. Mina Zayed comprises 21 berths and handles approximately 900,000 tons of cargo, and over 2,000 vessels movements annually. At the Dhow port facility, a further 4,500 Dhow movements occur annually. Commodities moving through the port include bulk cargo (e.g. grain), new and used vehicles, general and containerized cargo (e.g. processed foodstuffs, pharmaceutical products, agricultural and manufactured goods).
The port is under the management of Abu Dhabi Sea Port Authority, a state organization for which there are preliminary plans to offer shares to external investors through the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange.
The Dhow harbor, located in close proximity to Mina Zayed, has been developed as a Free Port for oil rig supply vessels, tug boats as well as traditional Arab Dhows and launches. These Dhows trade between Abu Dhabi and the Gulf countries, the Indian sub-continent, East Africa and most parts of the Middle East.
The Custom Department at Mina Zayed is responsible for the full range of customs processes including ship inspections, goods and container inspections, clearance, Bill of Entry processing, accounting and revenue collection and overall administration of the Abu Dhabi Customs service.
