Can I bring prescription medicines when I come on holiday?

A: Yes, however, it is advisable to keep any medication in its original packaging and please provide a note from your medical practitioner outlining the condition that the medicine is required for and the quantity required for the duration of your stay in the UAE.

Where can I buy duty-free goods?

A:
Duty-free shops are located at the international ports and airports.

What are the duty-free allowances?

A:

- Up to 2 bottles of alcohol

- Up to 400 cigarettes (or the equivalent with a value of no more than 3,000 dhs)

- Up to 40,000 dhs in currency

Can I bring my vehicle with me into the UAE for a temporary period?

A:

Foreign tourist vehicles (other than those registered   in the GCC) may be temporarily imported into the GCC with the following conditions

  • A period of six months for vehicles covered by an International Passage Carnet (IPC)
  • Three months for vehicles not covered by an IPC (This period can be extended to six months provided that a bank guarantee or cash deposit of an amount equal to the duties that would be payable on a normal importation of the vehicle

  • The vehicle must be officially registered in the licensing country and there must be documentation to prove this

  • The vehicle’s license must still be valid and the vehicle must not have “export plates”
  • The vehicle must be insured by an insurance company providing cover in the GCC for the period of the temporary importation
  • The person temporarily importing the vehicle into the GCC must be the owner of the vehicle, or must have special authorization from the licensing authority permitting the person to use the vehicle abroad
  • The driver of the vehicle must be a national citizen of the country in which the vehicle has been licensed or have a valid residency status there
